JSMU honors its founding legacy! JSMU names New Dental Building after Founding Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi (T.I), Chairperson, Sindh HEC.
On September 26, 2026, Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) proudly named its newly established Dental OPD Building as the “Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi Block” in recognition of the distinguished services and lasting contributions of Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi, the Founding Vice Chancellor of JSMU.
Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi founded JSMU in 2012 and served as its Vice Chancellor until 2022, providing leadership during a formative decade in the University’s development. His contribution to establishing academic, administrative and institutional foundations remains an important part of JSMU’s history. The naming represents a tribute to his vision, leadership and foundational role in shaping the University’s journey from its establishment into a growing institution of higher education and healthcare.
Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi unveiled the plaque alongside his wife, Prof. Naila Tariq, in the presence of current Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon, distinguished guests and faculty members. Equipped with a modern Dental Department, Library, I.T. Lab, and essential facilities, this new block marks another milestone in JSMU’s growth.
During his visit, Dr. Tariq Rafi commended the current administration for carrying forward the mission of academic and infrastructural excellence.
