Sindh Higher Education Commission issued provisional award letters to 19 scholars under the National Post-Doc Fellowship Programme – Phase II
The Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) has launched Phase-II of the National Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme, marking another significant step toward advancing research and academic development in the province. Under this phase, 19 scholars have been selected after a rigorous evaluation process, and provisional award letters have been issued to them.
The fellowship programme, amounting to approximately Rs. 51 million, aims to support early-career faculty members from public and private sector universities in Sindh and also from research and development organization of Govt. of Sindh, by providing them with the opportunity to pursue postdoctoral research in well-reputed national institutions. Each selected scholar will receive financial support of up to Rs. 2.9 million, depending on the duration and nature of the project.
This initiative builds upon the success of Phase-I. For Phase-II, the Expert Committee prioritized applicants whose host institutions are outside their parent universities or located in other provinces, in line with the policy objective to promote inter-provincial academic collaboration and national integration in research and innovation.
The selection process followed a merit-based scoring system and involved experts from across academic disciplines. Of the 19 successful applicants, 17 belong to public sector universities, 1 to a private sector university, and 1 to a public R&D institution.
The Expert Evaluation Committee appreciated the efforts of Sindh HEC for initiating this pioneering programme aimed at strengthening the research ecosystem in the province and contributing to national progress in higher education and scientific advancement.
Sindh HEC will now coordinate with the respective host institutions to release the allocated funds and ensure smooth implementation of the awarded projects under the National Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme (Phase-II).
