
Training on “Simulation & Gamification as Teaching Methodology” conducted by Sindh HEC
The Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) successfully conducted a one-day training workshop titled “Simulation & Gamification as Teaching Methodology” at Salim Habib University, Karachi. The session aimed to introduce faculty members to innovative teaching strategies that enhance student engagement and deepen learning through experiential, game and simulation-based approaches.
The workshop attracted faculty members from across the city and specifically included faculty members from “Business Management” discipline. The workshop featured hands-on activities designed to help educators apply simulation tools and gamification techniques in the classroom. Participants engaged in interactive exercises, decision-making scenarios, and real-world applications of game-based learning models tailored for higher education.
The training was led by two esteemed professionals: Faisal Jalal, a senior management consultant and founder of SimulationsX with over 27 years of experience in corporate and academic training, and Dr. Rameez Khalid, Associate Professor at IBA Karachi and a subject-matter expert in operations and supply chain education with a strong record in faculty development.
Participants praised the workshop for its practical relevance, interactive format, and its potential to transform conventional teaching methods into engaging and impactful learning experiences. The event reflects Sindh HEC’s ongoing commitment to modernizing teaching practices and promoting quality education across higher education institutions in the province.
Dr. Syed Irfan Haider, Vice Chancellor of Salim Habib University, expressed his pleasure over the successful conduct of the workshop. Speaking at the conclusion of the event, Dr. Irfan Haider said that Sindh HEC has been doing a tremendous job for the improvement of higher education in the province, and the way their team have been arranging the trainings relevant to the need is really very exceptional. He thanked Mr. Moinuddin Siddiqui, Secretary Sindh HEC for the efforts he has been doing for the betterment of university education, research and development in the province. On this occasion, he also thanked Sindh HEC Chairperson Professor Dr. SM Tariq Rafi. He said that under the leadership of Dr. Tariq Rafi, the progress achieved by Sindh HEC in the last few years is unparalleled. Dr. Tariq Rafi has played a significant role in promoting his vision and research in the field of higher education. He expressed hope that Sindh HEC will make more efforts for the betterment of education under the current leadership. The event culminated in the Certificate distribution among the participants.
