Sindh HEC Organises Two-Day National Certified Reviewer Programme

KARACHI, February 27: In order to improve quality assurance mechanism within public and private sector universities, the Sindh Higher Education Commission conducted the second module of the “1st National Certified Reviewers Training.” The event, which took place on the 26th and 27th of February 2024 in a local hotel in Karachi, aimed to train officials and experts from Quality Assurance Cells (QECs) of Pakistan’s public and private sector universities.
The trainers for this course were Dr. Mohammad Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director QEC at Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Karachi, and Air Commodore (rtd) Mohammad Ismail, Consultant, Quality Assurance at Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan. They shared useful information about KPIs that are important for improving university performance, the LeTCI and ADRI approaches, making KPIs based on levels, and the details of regulatory frameworks, stressing how important it is to follow the rules.
Mr. Moinuddin Siddiqui, Secretary of Sindh HEC, addressed the guests on the second day of the program and expressed confidence about the program’s potential to strengthen positive persistence and the QA framework across all facets. He praised the Chairperson of Sindh HEC, for his leadership, experience, and assistance in pushing attempts to improve higher education standards.
While discussing the event, one participant, Ms. Ambreen Asif Qureshi, Consultant Quality Assurance at Greenwich University, praised Sindh HEC for conducting the training program and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering learning and development.
Another participant, Mr. Murad Memon, a Certified Reviewer of Sindh HEC and Director QEC at Isra University in Hyderabad, thanked Chairperson Sindh HEC Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi for his steadfast support for quality assurance initiatives in universities across the country.
Air Commodore (Rtd) Muhammad Ismail thanked Sindh HEC for the opportunity to contribute to the program. He applauded Sindh HEC’s thorough approach to promoting quality assurance practices.
In his final remarks, Professor Dr. SM Tariq Rafi, Chairperson of Sindh HEC, emphasized the need for quality assurance in university development. He stressed the importance of adhering to regulatory requirements and praised the efforts of specialists such as Air Commodore Ismail to advance quality assurance activities.
The program ended on a positive note, with participants affirming their commitment to using what they had learned to foster continual progress in higher education standards across the area.
