Search Committee’s Functioning under Chairperson Sindh HEC
The current constitution of the Search Committee is in the light the Search Committee Act 2022, for appointment and evaluation of the performance of’ the Vice Chancellor other officers of the universities in public sector universities in the Province of Sindh, and for the matters connected therewith or ancillary thereto.

Major Functions of the Search Committee:
As per the Search Committee Act 2022, following are the major functions of the Search Committee (section 4(1)):
(i) To prescribe the recruitment criteria for Vice Chancellor
(ii) To scrutinize and shortlist the applications in the light of the eligibility criteria prescribed by the competent authority and published in the advertisement in the leading newspapers;
(iii) To hold interview(s) of short-listed candidates and determine the track record of leadership in the field of academia, administration, finance and management;
(iv) To consider the applicant’s professional experience and contribution towards the public service;
(v) To recommend a panel of three most suitable candidates (in alphabetical order) to the Chief Minister, who may either select one of the suitable candidates or interview them, considering their integrity, academic excellence, administrative experience, and abilities which may be necessary to perform the duties for the post applied for. However, in case, the Chief Minister considers that the suitable candidates recommended by Search Committee cannot be appointed as Vice Chancellor, he may return the panel to the Search Committee, which shall then refer three other suitable candidates (in alphabetical order) to the Chief Minister;
(vi) To re-advertise the post in case of non-availability of suitable candidates;
(vii) The Chief Minister may delegate appointment of other officers for appointment to the Search Committee.
(viii) To perform such other function as determined by the Chief Minister or as may be prescribed.
