RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASE

The process of introducing inventions and discoveries from universities to industries, followed by their commercialisation, plays a vital role in making the research outcomes accessible to the public. Companies that license these inventions are capable of undertaking crucial steps like development, testing, manufacturing, and distribution which may not be readily available in the universities.

This collaboration enables advancements in various fields such as medical devices, pharmaceuticals, software, sensors, new fruit and grain varieties and machines.

In line with this objective, the Sindh HEC organised a two-day Showcase Exhibition in collaboration with the NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. The event, which took place at the Expo Center Karachi, from 19 to 20 May, 2022 and then in 18 to 19 May, 2023 was primarily aimed at establishing a strong industry-academia linkage by introducing the inventions and discoveries of teachers and students from both public and private sector universities in Sindh to prominent industry officials in the country.  

By facilitating this platform, Sindh HEC sought to bridge the gap between research and industry, creating opportunities for universities’ research outcomes to be embraced and utilised by relevant industries. This exhibition provided a unique opportunity for industry officials to explore potential collaborations, licensing opportunities, and commercialisation prospects based on the showcased inventions and discoveries.

The industry-academia linkage established through such initiatives holds significant potential for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and economic growth. By facilitating the connection between universities and industries, the Sindh HEC aims to maximize the impact of research and innovation, paving the way for practical applications and advancements that benefit the society at large.
