LABORATORY STRENGTHENING PROGRAMME
Science and technology play a crucial role in the development of a robust higher education infrastructure. However, many institutions in Sindh currently lack the required institutional capacity to actively engage in significant research and development activities. It is imperative to address this gap by building and upgrading the scientific institutions in the region.
To address this need, the Sindh HEC has initiated a program aimed at strengthening and upgrading the existing laboratories in public sector universities across Sindh. The primary objective of this program is to provide grants to these universities, enabling them to acquire small to medium-sized scientific equipment and relevant materials.
The allocation of grants is based on strong reasoning and a cost-benefit analysis, ensuring that the funds are utilised effectively. The focus of this program is particularly on the newly chartered universities in Sindh which are aiming to enhance their laboratory facilities and infrastructure, ultimately fostering a vibrant culture of research and innovation. However, other public sector universities are also considered for such funding.
By empowering these universities with state-of-the-art laboratories and the necessary resources, Sindh HEC is committed to support researchers and students to conduct high-quality scientific research. This program is a significant step towards equipping Sindh’s higher education institutions with the tools and infrastructure needed to thrive in the realm of science and technology, promoting academic excellence and contributing to the overall development of the region.
