Global Academic Excellence in Times Higher Education
When the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) began its focused efforts on improving university rankings in 2023, only 16 public and private universities from the province were featured in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings. Recognizing the importance of global visibility and benchmarking, Sindh HEC embarked on a mission to enhance the international standing of its universities. This was not just a policy shift—it was a heartfelt commitment to raise the quality and global competitiveness of higher education in Sindh.
Over the past two years, Sindh HEC has taken a proactive and inclusive approach, organizing a series of capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and consultations designed to help universities understand and meet the complex criteria of international ranking frameworks. These efforts were backed by consistent follow-ups, expert guidance, and a spirit of collaboration among all stakeholders.
The results speak for themselves. In 2024, the number of ranked universities rise to 31, and by 2025, a remarkable 44 universities from Sindh secured a place in the THE Impact Rankings. This progress is not merely a numerical achievement – it represents a growing culture of quality, accountability, and global engagement within the higher education sector of Sindh. It is a testament to what can be accomplished through shared vision, persistent effort, and a belief in the transformative power of education.
