Sindh HEC Trains Frequent External Reviewers of CIEC on Modern Evaluation Models and Reporting

22nd November 2024 KARACHI: To strengthen the quality assurance processes of higher education institutions in Sindh, the Sindh Higher Education Commission (Sindh HEC) organized a one-day intensive training session for Frequent External Reviewers of the Charter Inspection and Evaluation Committee (CIEC) on 22nd November 2024. The session focused on enhancing report-writing skills and familiarizing reviewers with advanced evaluation models such as ADLI, LeTCI, and ADRI. The training, facilitated by Dr. Abdul Wahid Usmani, Director QEC, Jinnah Sindh Medical University, aimed to equip senior faculty members (subject experts) with the tools necessary for accurate and timely reporting. Special emphasis was placed on the appropriate choice of words in comments/ report writing and addressing how efficiently an evaluation report can be written. During his closing remarks, Prof. Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi, Chairperson of Sindh HEC, highlighted the critical role reviewers play in maintaining the integrity of higher education system of the province. “Frequent external reviewers are the backbone of CIEC’s evaluation process. We can work together to imporve the quality of education in the province. With enhanced skills and the adoption of new models, we aim to bring consistency and efficiency to university evaluations,” he said. Dr. Rafi also announced upcoming transformations in CIEC’s evaluation processes, ensuring that visits are more streamlined and effective. “Delays in report submissions can hinder decision-making processes. By addressing these issues today, we are taking significant steps towards a more responsive and accountable evaluation mechanism,” he added. The training was well-received by the participants, who expressed their appreciation for the practical guidance and the opportunity to contribute to Sindh HEC’s quality assurance goals.
