Sindh HEC-UNDP organise Orientation Workshop on role of SDGs in higher education

Karachi, August 17, 2023: The Sindh HEC organised an orientation workshop on Thursday, August 17 on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their role in higher education.

The one-day workshop was arranged in collaboration with the UNDP-SDGs Support Unit, Sindh at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM).

The workshop was attended by the representatives of various public and private sector universities of Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson Sindh HEC, Prof. Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi said, “In the modern-day world, the SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all and address the global challenges we face today.

“The Sindh HEC is committed to focusing on goal four of the SDGs ‘Quality Education’ by taking ownership of the SDGs with complete devotion and passion,” he further added.

Mr. Aijaz Ali Khuwaja, a senior social development/climate change expert, then conducted an engaging session on developing an SDG Action Plan.

After the session, the representatives of all the participating universities were asked to put forward a roadmap and propose it to the Sindh HEC. 

Chairperson Sindh HEC, Prof. Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi and Secretary Sindh HEC, Mr. Moinuddin Siddiqui presented a memento of appreciation each to Mr. Talib Syed Karim, President IoBM, and Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Acting Rector at IoBM, for hosting the event.

After the workshop, all the participants received certificates of attendance.
