SHEC and University of Essex collaborate to foster relations between varsities in Pakistan and the UK.
Karachi, July 04, 2023: The Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC), and a delegation from the University of Essex expressed interest in meeting with the Vice Chancellors of some of the public and private sector universities in Pakistan to foster relations between varsities in Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The meeting aimed to collaborate with a wider focus on Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Research Programmes.
The meeting was commenced under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi, Chairman SHEC, and the visiting guest delegation from the University of Essex led by Vanessa Potter, Director of Communications and External Relations in the presence of Shahnaz Wazir Ali, President SZABIST, Prof. Dr. Altaf Mukati, Vice President (Academics), and Dean (Computing & Engineering Sciences) at SZABIST, Prof. Dr. Tariq Rahim Soomro, Acting Rector at IoBM, Prof. Dr. Mustaghis ur Rahman, Sr. Professor, Management Studies at Bahria Business School, Bahria University, Dr. Sarosh Hashmat Lodi, Vice Chancellor NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi amongst others.
Chairman SHEC apprised the gathering about the importance of fostering such collaborative efforts between universities in Pakistan and the UK.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. S. M. Tariq Rafi stated, “Pakistan and the UK are tied in a close and long-standing relationship where education is one of the key strands. I appreciate the University of Essex in its efforts to help open new opportunities for our students who are seeking education in the UK and come up with out-of-the-box solutions for them, given the current economic situation of Pakistan.”
Vanessa Potter, Director of Communications and External Relations at the University of Essex said, “The University of Essex wants to work together with Pakistani universities to develop higher education linkages between the UK and Pakistan. We need to work on creative solutions for faculty and students to help provide them with flexible grants because having an international educational experience is life changing.”
